McShane Construction Company provided the comprehensive renovation services for Cristo Rey St. Martin College Prep, a charter high school located on a 14-acre infill site formerly housing a Kmart in Waukegan, Illinois.

The exterior of the single-story 115,300-square-foot facility was modified to a more contemporary look that included CMU block masonry, exterior wall reinforcement, aluminum windows, a new aluminum curtainwall and partial roof replacement featuring 29 skylights to enhance natural light.

As part of Phase I, McShane renovated 55,000 square feet of interior space encompassing numerous classrooms, laboratories, offices, a cafeteria and library. All mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems were completely replaced and the facility boasts a web-based building automation system upon completion to maximize building efficiency.

Phase II of construction included the renovation of 42,000 square feet, which included the addition of four new classrooms, a chapel, office and meeting space, a fitness center, locker rooms and a gymnasium with a performing arts stage.

The contemporary facility features tiltwall construction and encompasses 13 classrooms, 13 workshops, locker rooms, special tools storage, two professional training classrooms, break room and administrative area.

Walker Training Facility is bisected along the length of the building by a Main Street corridor, which will feature a higher roof clearance with clerestory windows and accommodate vehicles coming in and out of the workshop areas from a secure parking area.

The three-story, 100,890-square-foot secondary school was constructed to meet LEED-Silver standards and incorporates features such as natural day lighting and ventilation, low 3 materials, energy efficient heating and cooling systems, low-e glass and low-flow plumbing finishes.

The assignment included the extensive demolition of a free-standing building to the north of the property, as well as the partial demolition and reconstruction of the existing 77,280-square-foot former industrial facility and 23,610 square feet of new construction.

The interior offers nine science labs, individual classrooms, group learning environments, a library, a cafeteria, office space and common areas.

The project entails renovations to the existing football field including future provisions for the addition of an eight-lane track, construction of multiple tennis courts and recreational areas and the construction of a storage facility for the Athletic Department.

Brown Field, located behind the ARC, is home to the Crusaders football team and is near the new courts for the men’s and women’s tennis teams. This project represents a comprehensive renovation and construction program across multiple areas of the campus.

The two-story, LEED-Gold certified facility is situated on a 1.85-acre site and provides maintenance services and storage for the university.

The building features a tinted precast exterior with a light sandblasted contemporary finish. The interior of the facility offers a 24′ clear height, one external dock, one drive-in door and an ESFR sprinkler system.

Sitework provided by McShane incorporated landscaping, sidewalks, employee and visitor parking and 68 parking spaces for the university’s fleet vehicles.

Construction of the facility was completed in five phases to coincide with the university’s athletic schedules. The project included the renovation of the existing Loftus Building and the construction of the 95,740-square-foot Don F. and Flora Guglielmino Family Athletics Center.

The center features offices for the football coaches and staff, team auditorium and meeting rooms, athletic trainer facilities, strength and conditioning stations, equipment rooms and locker rooms.

Triad Properties executed a lease with the U.S. General Services Administration on behalf of tenant, Defense Acquisition University, a division of the Department of Defense that provides mandatory, assignment specific and continuing education courses for military and civilian personnel.

McShane constructed the facility with a brick and glass exterior and state-of-the-art interior finishes. The structure features a number of green building techniques and was designated LEED-Gold by the U.S. Green Building Council.

The interior offers lobby space, offices, a teacher’s lounge and flexible office and classroom areas for the Arts and Sciences Department. Interior finishes include acoustical tile, exposed concrete floors and exposed steel elements.

The LEED-Silver assignment incorporates numerous sustainable elements including an energy-efficient HVAC system, recycled and low-VOC materials and certified wood products, among others.

The build-to-suit headquarters is located on a 2.5-acre site at 2020 S. Arlington Heights Road in Arlington Heights, Illinois.

More than 3,000 students per year utilize the facility’s six classrooms and three instructional labs for workplace safety and health courses.

McShane constructed the three-story facility with architectural precast panels accentuated with tinted glass windows.

The Rego Group was selected by the U.S. General Services Administration, the federal government’s real estate manager, as the developer of the project.
